Monica lives on an Indiana farm with her husband and two dogs. When not helping on the farm, she loves spending time with her four children and four grandchildren. Before writing her first book she worked twenty-eight years in the medical field of optometry as both optician and optical manager. During that time she wrote a human interest story in a medical newsletter and has had poetry published in Speer Presents. Monica worked an additional two years at a wholesale optical lab, using her skills to assemble frames and lenses.
She formerly co-chaired two writer groups, Heartland Writers Forum in Monroeville and Heartland Writers Guild in Decatur, Indiana. Additionally, she offered Writing, Publishing and Memoir Workshops tailored to beginning and intermediate writers. Monica has been a guest speaker for countless groups/clubs/libraries with her presentation: One Writer’s Journey/Lessons in Perseverance.
Monica has written two historical romance novels Threads of Betrayal and the sequel Winds of Betrayal. She’s also written a book on those who’ve had real spiritual experiences that changed their lives titled: Spiritual Experiences and Revelations. Monica honored her promise to long-time friend Bill Vaile by writing his story of a demonic infestation in his home titled: Satanic Warfare: Tactics of the Demonic. Her next novel Sons of Betrayal will round out the trilogy.
Monica has enjoyed past hobbies such as bicycle touring on the RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) and sky diving. Currently, she still enjoys a lifelong hobby of jogging and weight lifting.
